The Château of Gicon, near the village of Chusclan, stands at the summit of a rocky headland, giving magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. It was built on the site of a Gallo-Roman villa. The Château, which had been totally abandoned, was bought by the Chusclan wine producers in 1973.
Since then, the fortress has undergone extensive renovation. It is surrounded by 12 hectares of vineyards that the Laudun & Chusclan Vignerons are bringing back into production, restructuring the land in keeping with the site.

In 1985, they helped four young wine-growers to establish themselves here, with tenancies for 4-hectare plots. 52 hectares have now been divided up as tenancies for young people at an experimental vineyard designed to provide them with an opportunity to try out different grape varieties, stock and methods of vineyard management. Now a further a 10-hectare "showcase vineyard" is to being developed on the hills of Gicon. These plots will be given as tenancies to young wine-growers to cultivate.
